1. Myth #1 Self-love is Selfish

It's a common misconception that loving ourselves means we're being selfish. If we love ourselves, won’t we stop loving or caring for others? This myth is an important one you need to debunk.

By not dedicating time, resources, and love to yourself, you're actually being selfish in a different way. Don’t be selfish with your time, resources, and love by not giving any of it to the person who’s always going to be with you: YOURSELF. The other beautiful thing about learning to love yourself is that the more love you give to yourself, the more you have to give to other people.

2. Myth #2 Self-love Comes from Other People

Without clear examples of self-love, or seeing it in action, we might believe that loving ourselves comes from other people. What if I’m loved by someone else, then I’ll have the love I need for myself. This is understandable. And yet, it is not true. No one outside of you can give you the love you need to give yourself.

3. Myth # 3: I can only love myself when I have achieved my goals.

Self-love isn’t conditional. It’s not the end game.

There is no waiting period, no perfect timing, and no ultimate goal that you must reach before you can choose love yourself. The essence of self-love practice lies in recognizing and embracing the imperfect moments and choosing to love yourself regardless. If you wait for everything to be perfect, you will wait forever to love yourself.
